1978 Adam Krzysztof Halicki was born in Danzig / Poland where his parents Marek and Renata studied. Both are working and teaching as musicians.
1980 His brother, Jakub was born in Allenstein / Poland. The father got about an artist agency in Warsaw the possibility to work in Greece, in an Italian circus. After the father moved to Greece the state of emergency began in Poland and his father should came back to be in the Polish army. The parents wrote between Poland and Greece letters and the letters got opened and stamped by the Communists. The mother applied for vacation to leave Poland and she flew to Greece with her sons. Later told the parents Adam and Jakub from long waiting times in front of the stores and that there was no food in the shelves and they were worried because their sons were often ill.
1982-1984 The family travelled with the circus through whole Greece. Adam remembered how he sat with his mother and brother between the observers and his mother showed to the orchestra and said: “There is playing your father” and below the orchestra was the performance. Adam remembered the trailers and the hippo in the cage on wheels. Then the circus played in former Yugoslavia. When the civil war began, were his parents very sad because they recognized on TV the cities.
1984 Plans to immigrate to USA, Los Angeles. But the family moved to Germany, they leaved the train in the central station of Hanover. The parents hoped that they have a better future in Germany and they spoke at home German to get better integrated. The creativity of Adam was striking to note in the Kindergarden.
1985 School enrolment in Hildesheim, move to Bad Wildungen, where his father played in the band of a health resort.
1989 Visit of the secondary school in Bad Wildungen. During the art lessons surrounded all classmates Adam to watch him painting.
1994 Adam became citizen of Germany. He left secondary school in Bad Wildungen and went to vocational school for economy and administration in Bad Wildungen.
1996 He left vocational school for economy and administration with certificate. During this time his parents got divorced, he and his brother lived by the mother and the father moved to Hanover. Adam visited in the evening drawing courses. He dreamed to visit Art College.
Adam worked in the company Wachenfeld Natursteinwerk GmbH in Volkmarsen. His tasks were preparing machines which processed stones for stairs, houses and cemeteries.
1997 Internship in the bookstore Buchhandlung Bing in Bad Wildungen.
He enjoyed working in the team and the contact with books about art history.
Jul 1997 He told his mother his feelings, he moved out from home and moved into an apartment-sharing community in Kassel. Before he went to specialized secondary school he worked in a store. The school was in Kassel and Adam lived in the city to avoid long ways to the school. His mother lived in a small village and it was difficult to reach the school by bus and train. Adam liked living in the community very much and about the community he got contact with the campus of Kassel. He was often on the university area and met the people with which he lived together or the gay info point located at the campus. He visited often the documenta, a well-known international art exhibition in Kassel
.
Sep 1997 Specialized secondary school, concentration: Design begins. Adam took a lot of photos. As part of the education he had to do three internships.
The first was in print shop, Kassel, he processed print orders.
He did in the second internship sign and logo creation and helped making neon signs. The last internship was in department for display in warehouse, Adam helped by advertising, merchandising and window display.
1998 He was founding a youth group for young gay and lesbian people in Willi-Seidel-House, Kassel.
1999 He supervised a gallery in Kassel. He did guided tours around with guests, assisted during the last day of an exhibition celebrated with guests, he took care after art work and technical equipment, and kept regularly contact with gallery caretaker regarding any damages. He finished specialized secondary school with Qualification for Entrance to Art College.
Aug 99 - Jun 00 Adam worked as nursery school aid in Kassel, were he helped preparing
breakfast, lunch and tea and did arts and crafts with the children.
Oct 2000 Start of study at Bauhaus-University Weimar, with Fine Art. The education is interdisciplinary oriented and dominated by projects. The first university works are installations and photos.
Jun 2001 Exhibition of art works in “Kirms-Krackow-House” Weimar as part of the project “Lifestyle”, supported by Bauhaus-University Weimar. Adam is painting again.
2002 Exhibition of art works as part of the project “Picture stories / homeland”, supported by Bauhaus-University Weimar. The project works are realized with threads.
Exhibition of art works in SWIB-Centre, a communication point in the AIDS organisation Erfurt.
Voluntary social work for AIDS organisation Erfurt, he supervised the library in SWIB-Centre, AIDS organisation Erfurt. He was volunteer for German Labour Political Party (SPD) and helped to organise a Congress for Gay Social Democrats “Schwusos” in Germany, the Gay Social Democrats “Schwusos” was a group within the German Labour Political Party. He opened the congress with greeting and prepared application forms, he was taking care of guests to help them find their way e.g. back to their hotels.
Feb 2002 Exhibition of art works in “Theatre house Jena”, Jena, as part of the course Drawing: Art + Theatre + Space, supported by Bauhaus-University Weimar.
2002 Adam met his lifetime partner Knut in Erfurt, and they moved together.
Feb 2003 Study trip to Bali, Indonesia.
Apr - May 2003 Exhibition of art work in “Kunstraum B/2“ gallery, Leipzig, supported by
“Cusanuswerk” foundation.
Jul 2003 Exhibition of art works in “Eigensinn – Fake – Appropration” as part of the project “Complicated cause VII”, supported by Bauhaus-University Weimar.
2004 Visit of MoMa-exhibition in Berlin, Germany. A work of Jasper Johns inspired Adam to combine painting with thread. The parents are living together again by Hanover, Germany.
Dez 2004 - Jan 2005 Study trip to USA.
Jul 2005 Adam finished University successful with Fine Arts Degree, since then he worked as artist. The final work is a room installation with life size figures of nails and threads and titled “The thin thread” and treated the rights of minorities in a global context. Realized in a lawyer office in Weimar. He and Knut got married.
Nov 2005 Art works and studio were shown by the German television station PRO 7 during the magazine “We are Family” with three million observers per broadcast.
Dez 2005 - Jan 2006 Study trip to Canada.
May 2006 Exhibition “Insights”, Schlossvippach. Adam painted during the exhibition in the room and did guided tours with invited school classes, the admission was free to bring young people in contact with art.
May – June 2006 Study trip to Canada.
Aug 2006 Permanent exhibition “Coloursouls“, restaurant Jakobsklause, Weimar
The TV station SALVE TV broadcasted on TV an interview with Adam and impressions from the exhibition.
Nov 2006 Exhibition „Bali’s Gods and other travelling companions“, Nordthueringer Volksbank eG, Soemmerda
Move with husband to Edmonton, Canada.
Feb 2007 Joined VAAA, Visual Arts Alberta Association.
March 2007 Participation on project in ART Gallery of ALBERTA, Edmonton.
